STUDENTS · SKILLS · JOBS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Teaching skills, opening doors

A strong councillor must understand people, explain complex issues clearly and turn plans into opportunity. Hanson has done that throughout his teaching career.

In an interview, Hanson recalled entering the cable and telecommunications field in the mid-2000s and recognizing a gap: contractors needed skilled workers, while capable newcomers needed a practical route into the industry.

After learning the work in the field, he developed hands-on training around equipment, safety and problem solving, then helped qualified trainees connect with employers. He later applied the same approach to electrical trades, controls, fire-alarm systems and energy work.

Students who learned from Hanson saw more than technical knowledge. They saw someone who could identify a need, master the details, teach with patience and help people move toward a real result.

COLLEAGUES · ENGINEERING · DELIVERY

The ability to make difficult projects work

City Hall needs people who can ask the right questions about scope, safety, cost, responsibility and completion. Hanson’s colleagues have seen him do exactly that.

Hanson described helping manufacturers prepare equipment and production lines for operation in Canada, including technical documentation, installation, commissioning, testing and coordination. The work touched industries such as fasteners, steel fabrication, printing and food production.

He also brought practical automation thinking to agriculture, including a solar-powered irrigation concept that could respond to time, soil moisture or remote control. The common thread was not technology for its own sake; it was finding a safe, workable solution to a real operating problem.

People who have worked beside Hanson know that he does not stop at a presentation or a promise. He works through standards, logistics and implementation until a solution can function in the real world.

ASSOCIATIONS · COMMUNITY · LEADERSHIP

A leader who helps other people lead

Effective councillors do not work alone. They bring residents, staff, agencies and community organizations together—and give capable people room to contribute.

Hanson has helped establish community organizations, develop operating structures and assemble founding teams. He has also shared practical experience through organizations connected with agriculture and businesses establishing operations in Canada.

His leadership philosophy is consistent: recognize people’s strengths, make knowledge accessible, assign real responsibility and develop the next person who can lead. That same outlook shapes his support for traditional culture, youth activities and healthy community life.

Students, colleagues and association partners have seen Hanson solve problems without needing to take all the credit. Their encouragement for him to run comes from years of firsthand experience with his judgment, work ethic and ability to bring people together.

Ability should be put to work for Ward 6.

Hanson is ready to bring practical judgment, strong execution and collaborative leadership to City Council.
